Kinhtedothi – By the end of November, China, the United States and Japan continued to remain the three largest export markets of Vietnam. However, while exports to China increased by 18%, those to the United States and Japan decreased by 17.9% and 9.1%, respectively, over the same period in 2022.
Informing the press on the afternoon of November 30, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that in the past 11 months of 2023, the total export turnover of agricultural products is estimated at 47.84 billion USD, down 2.7% compared to with the same period last year. Of which, the seafood group reached 8.24 billion USD, down 18.9%; forest products 13.02 billion USD, down 17%; production input 1.82 billion USD, down 17.8%.
Particularly, the agricultural and livestock products group had an increase in value, agricultural products 24.3 billion USD, an increase of 17.1% and livestock products 453 million USD, an increase of 23.5%. To date, there are 6 products/product groups with an export value of over 3 billion USD.
In the past 11 months of 2023, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to Asian markets reached 23.61 billion USD, an increase of 6.8%; Americas 10.85 billion USD, down 17.7%; Europe 4.85 billion USD, down 12.5%; Africa 999 million USD, up 21.7%; Oceania 722 million USD, down 13.5%.
China, the United States and Japan continue to remain the three largest export markets. Export value to China accounted for 23.2%, an increase of 18%; The United States accounts for 20.6%, down 17.9%, and Japan accounts for 7.4%, down 9.1% over the same period in 2022.
Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that in December, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will promote the development of domestic consumption and export markets. Focus on handling market issues to create favorable conditions for exporting agricultural and aquatic products, especially to the markets of China, the United States, the EU, the Eurasian economic union…
Vietnam will also make efforts to take advantage of FTAs, especially the CPTPP and EVFTA Agreements, to promote the export of key agricultural, forestry and fishery products and support businesses in signing new export orders. Coordinate support for trademark and geographical indication protection for Vietnam’s potential export products abroad.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and other ministries will continue to monitor and grasp the price situation and supply of essential food items, reporting to the Domestic Market Steering Group and the Government’s Price Steering Committee; Ensuring supply to serve domestic demand and balance supply and demand during the 2024 Lunar New Year.
