Promoting the export of high-value agricultural products is Bac Giang’s goal set out in the Plan No. 55/KH-SNN to implement the commodity export strategy until 2030.
Many agricultural products in Bac Giang have been successfully exported
Bac Giang is considered as typical of the northern localities, especially the mountainous areas, successfully consuming many strong products, especially consuming by the export route.
Luc Ngan is a mountainous district, also the strongest locality of Bac Giang in terms of cultivation and consumption of agricultural products. Mr. Nguyen The Thi – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Luc Ngan district said that Luc Ngan is the mountainous district with the largest area of Bac Giang province. The district currently has the largest area of fruit trees in the province with 28,000 ha, of which lychee is 17,357 ha, citrus trees over 5,000 ha and other crops. The district currently has 84 planting area codes and 173 packing codes. Up to this point, the whole district has 75% of the fruit tree area that meets the standards such as VietGAP, Global GAP, and organic.
To get that result, Luc Ngan district has spent many years implementing and determined to build a brand name for a large raw material area. Luc Ngan has built clusters, schemes and plans for the years so that when deploying planting areas, it will always plan which areas for what trees from the beginning to meet standards and regulations. At the same time, strictly build up the code of planting and packing areas, regularly maintain and monitor to gradually improve and meet standards; Once the standard is reached, then gradually raise it further.
Along with fruit trees, Luc Ngan also manages traditional craft villages such as noodle soup, OCOP products, etc. Currently, Luc Ngan has 37 OCOP products with 3 stars or more and is browsing 2 lychee products. Noodles is a 5-star OCOP product. These are products with very good output and quality.
In order to promote trade and promote local agricultural products, Luc Ngan has adopted tourism development programs; through celebrities and prestige to promote local products. Through communication channels, social networks, e-commerce floors, the district has actively promoted and built product brands.
“This is the reason for Luc Ngan’s agricultural products to be successfully exported to foreign countries. Especially, lychee fruit has been successfully exported to 37 markets around the world” – Mr. Nguyen The Thi shared.
Along with Luc Ngan, according to statistics, the output of Bac Giang’s main agricultural products for export is increasing. In 2022, the main products, such as: lychee, Chu rice noodles, Yen Dung fragrant rice, canned vegetables and fruits, etc., will reach more than 100 thousand tons, especially fresh lychee will reach 75.5 thousand tons. In which, the market of Japan, EU, and Korea reached more than 100 tons, double that of the previous crop. Along with the increase in output, up to now, Bac Giang lychee has reached 37 countries and territories, being favored by fastidious markets such as Japan, the US, and the EU. In 2022, lychee export turnover will reach 116 million USD; vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds reached 10 million USD.
Particularly for lychee, the export output of the 2023 crop is estimated at nearly 111.2 thousand tons, accounting for more than 55% of the total output. China is still an important market when accounting for over 98% of the province’s export output. In addition, Bac Giang lychee has reached 37 countries and territories around the world. Many fastidious markets have accepted Vietnamese lychee: the United States, Japan, Korea, EU, Qatar, Australia, Thailand…
According to statistics of the national airline Vietnam Airline, the output of fresh lychee transported internationally has reached nearly 90 tons, doubled compared to the previous year, reaching 7 international markets such as the UK. , France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia… In the US market, this year nearly 20 tons of lychee have been transported by sea to “stand on the shelves” of large supermarket chains such as Safeway and Albertsons in the states. West coast. The average selling price is about 3.99 USD (equivalent to about 200,000 VND).
In particular, this is also the first year that Vietnamese lychees are supplied in large American supermarket systems instead of retailing in markets for Vietnamese people as before. This shows that the international market has gained acceptance for Vietnamese lychee fruit, opening up a lot of potential for exporting this agricultural product in the near future.
Towards sustainable export, increasing the value of agricultural products
Although there have been some successes, the export of agricultural products of Bac Giang province is still quite modest, especially in the livestock sector. The main reason is that the quality of Bac Giang’s main agricultural products has not yet met the export market; high cost, limited application of science and technology to production and deep processing; fragmented production, lack of concentration…
Over the above shortcomings, together with the central government’s mechanisms and policies, the province has also issued many policies in the past time, concretizing the orientation of agricultural production development in each period. The highlight is Resolution 401, dated April 3, 2019 of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee on the agricultural development strategy of Bac Giang province to 2030, with a vision to 2035; Resolution No. 07 dated July 11, 2019 of the Provincial People’s Council on regulations on specific mechanisms and policies to encourage enterprises to invest in agriculture and rural areas in the province in the period of 2019-2025. As a result, the province’s agriculture sector has resources to effectively implement many projects to develop concentrated fruit trees, animal disease-free areas, high-quality rice intensive areas, and apply high technology to production. .
Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province has issued Plan No. 55/KH-SNN to implement the strategy of exporting goods to 2030.
The plan clearly states that, by 2030, priority should be given to attracting export-oriented agricultural production and processing projects associated with raw material areas such as vegetable processing zones for export (Viet Yen, Tan Yen, Lang Giang and Hiep). Draw); fruit processing zones for export (Luc Ngan, Luc Nam); wood processing for domestic and export demand (Son Dong, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam and Yen The); projects on slaughtering and processing livestock and poultry (Yen The, Tan Yen, Lang Giang, Bac Giang city)…
Continue to promote research and application of science and technology in the production, preservation and processing of key and typical agricultural products of the province. Support the creation, management and development of industrial property rights for agricultural products of the province.
Bring science and technology associated with production and sales of key products to improve productivity and quality, and meet VietGap and GlobalGap standards to aim at exporting and participating in global value chains. To step by step apply biotechnology in the selection, breeding and propagation of high-yield and good-quality plants and animals; applying automation technology to production… to export products.
Thanks to the combination of the above solutions, up to now, there have been a number of large enterprises investing in the locality. For example, Hoa Phat Group invested in pig raising area according to high-tech process with the scale of 5 thousand sows and 18,000 pigs per litter in Long Son commune (Son Dong); Dabaco Group invests in breeding poultry with a scale of more than 60,000 heads in Yen The…
The province has planned and developed a number of large-scale concentrated commodity production areas, such as the lychee area of nearly 30,000 hectares; high quality rice area 45 thousand ha; the area of processed vegetables and safe vegetables is more than 12.6 thousand hectares; 21 pig breeding areas; 33 chicken raising areas, etc. The whole province has built 205 OCOP products, including some key branded products to meet export demand such as: lychee, Chu noodles, longan, processed vegetables. ..
With this goal, in the coming time, Bac Giang agricultural products, especially mountainous agricultural products, are expected to be exported to many countries with higher value.
