(ĐTTCO) – Fruit and vegetable exports in the first quarter of 2024 reached a turnover of nearly 1.3 billion USD. Durian, dragon fruit, and longan continue to be major contributors.
According to information from the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, in March, fruit and vegetable exports reached about 433 million USD, an increase of 33% compared to the previous month. In the first quarter, fruit and vegetable export turnover reached nearly 1.3 billion USD. Among them, durian, dragon fruit, and longan continue to be major contributors to the export of agricultural products and fruits.
China is still the import market for many Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, with output increasing by half over the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, Thailand and Germany recorded a sudden increase in imports, over 120% over the same period last year.
According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Thai consumers have recently switched from preferring strongly sweet fruits to less sweet, healthier ones, so Vietnamese fruits have an advantage.
This year, fruit and vegetable exports are expected to reach 6-6.5 billion USD, when import demand from China, Thailand, Germany, and Japan is high.
