Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that through the working sessions, China agreed to speed up the completion of procedures and open the door to import more key fruits of the country. Vietnam, in particular, should consider opening up avocados and passion fruits, as well as consider lifting the ban on poultry imports and animal product imports from Vietnam.
“We have been actively negotiating with the Chinese market, for example: exporting animals and animal products has been signed and is being implemented; are continuing to negotiate seafood exports. For coconut and frozen durian, the documents have basically been completed, just waiting for the agreement of both parties to sign. If these agricultural products are signed with the Protocol and watermelon exports are transferred from the unofficial quota to the official quota, it will be a great advantage in the market. However, it is recommended that the Government build smart border gates and centralized railway traffic to reduce the cost of transporting agricultural products” – Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said.
