Total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in the first 6 months of this year reached 29.2 billion USD, up 19% over the same period in 2023.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that in the first 6 months of 2024, the agricultural sector maintained a fairly high growth rate, affirming its supporting role of the economy; Productivity and output of many key products increased, ensuring the supply of food and essential goods, making an important contribution to the country’s GDP growth.

Units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have focused on implementing projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to key markets such as China, the United States, Japan and the EU.

Notably, the United States, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam. Export value to these three markets is also increasing. Specifically, the United States accounted for 20.7%, an increase of 20.8%; China accounted for 20.2%, an increase of 9.5% and Japan accounted for 6.7%, an increase of 5%.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the first 6 months of 2024 increased by 19% over the same period last year.

At the same time, the Ministry continues to promote the opening of new markets with great potential such as Halal Muslim countries, the Middle East, Africa… Thanks to that, the product consumption market is maintained and expanded. , agricultural exports continue to maintain high growth momentum, most field groups have positive growth.

Of which, the main agricultural product group reached 15.76 billion USD, an increase of 24.4%; Main forest products 7.95 billion USD, up 21.2%; seafood 4.36 billion USD, up 4.9%; livestock products 240 million USD, an increase of 3.8%. Production inputs alone were 904 million USD, down 1.8% and salt was 2.3 million USD, down 1.7%.

According to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2024, the Prime Minister expects the agricultural industry to export about 54 billion USD. Currently, the Ministry has exported more than 50% of the target set by the Prime Minister (29.2 billion USD).

With the results achieved, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in 2024 will complete the target of 54 billion USD, possibly even reaching 56 – 57 billion USD.

“It is forecast that from July onwards, demand for agricultural products will often be higher, so the export target by the end of the year of about 54 billion USD as expected by the Prime Minister can be achieved…”, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien speak.

Based on forecasts of difficulties, challenges, advantages and opportunities for the agricultural and rural sector in the last 6 months of 2024, to best complete the set goals, the Ministry of Agriculture and Development Rural areas will continue to strongly develop markets, remove barriers, and facilitate the consumption of agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

Accordingly, the Ministry will strengthen coordination with Embassies, Commercial Counselors, and Agricultural Counselors to collect and provide information, tastes, needs, and update policies and regulations for the business community. industry, localities.

Along with that, continue to coordinate with localities to direct summer-autumn, fall-winter and seasonal rice production in accordance with weather and market developments; Closely monitor the production of industrial crops and fruit trees, especially for key fruit trees such as dragon fruit, longan, durian, mango, rambutan… to have appropriate crop direction and increase the rate.
