The festival contributes to motivating Vietnamese businesses to improve their business methods and raise Vietnam’s position on the world fruit supply map.
Promoting businesses to improve their thinking and business methods
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam has favorable natural conditions and has many diverse and unique fruits in many provinces and cities across the country. With an annual output of 12 – 14 million tons, Vietnam’s fruit products not only meet domestic consumption needs but also serve exports with a turnover of 3.5 billion USD per year.
For Vietnamese fruits, China is a very potential market. Currently, Vietnamese fruits are mainly exported to China through border trade to meet the market demand of some localities in the southern and southeastern regions of China and provinces adjacent to Vietnam. For other localities, the appearance of Vietnamese fruit products is still quite modest, while the demand for fruit consumption in the Chinese market is very large and the ability to supply high-quality, specialty fruits of Vietnam is very abundant. Therefore, there is still a lot of room for fruit businesses of the two countries to exploit and develop.
To overcome difficulties and promote Vietnamese agricultural products to dominate this large and potential market, the first Vietnam Fruit Festival in Beijing, China, taking place on September 29-30, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Embassy of Vietnam in China and the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, was assessed by businesses as a good opportunity for Vietnamese producers and suppliers to introduce and promote their brands and images of typical fruit products, as well as meet and seek customers, strengthen trade activities, and build sustainable cooperative relationships with potential partners in fruit import in China.
At the same time, this is also a favorable opportunity for a large number of Chinese consumers to directly experience the quality and unique, distinctive flavors of Vietnamese fruits, thereby helping to promote the national brand for agricultural products in general and Vietnamese fruits in particular to the Chinese market.
Assessing the significance and scale of the Vietnam Fruit Festival in China, Mr. Vu Ba Phu – Director of the Trade Promotion Agency said that this is the first time a national-scale fruit festival of Vietnam has been held in a market that consumes one of the world’s top fruits, with the joint collaboration of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and nearly 30 large fruit and vegetable exporting enterprises of Vietnam.
According to Mr. Phu, with the theme “Vietnamese Fruits – Four Delicious Seasons”, the Organizing Committee hopes that this event will introduce and promote strongly to businesses and consumers in the Northern China region, where the demand for consumption is very high but there are few conditions to access Vietnamese fruits, about 12 typical tropical fruits, unique in flavor, classy in quality, rich in variety and nutritious in use value of Vietnam that have been opened to the Chinese market.
Sharing more, the leader of the Director of the Trade Promotion Department said that for a long time, Vietnamese fruits have been exported to China, the main export market of Vietnamese agricultural products, mainly through border trade, causing unstable export value and many trade risks. In recent years, the focus on shifting to promote official exports has affected the change in the thinking and practice of fruit business of many enterprises, forcing enterprises to focus on innovation and ensuring high quality requirements of the import market to survive and develop.
“This festival is one of the factors that clearly motivates Vietnamese enterprises to improve their business methods, improve products, and supply the market with fruits with beautiful designs and outstanding quality to gain commensurate export value, contributing to raising Vietnam’s position on the world fruit supply map” – the Director of the Trade Promotion Department emphasized.
Continue to diversify large-scale specialized and specialized product festivals
According to Mr. Phu, this festival shows the great importance of communication, brand promotion and image of agricultural products in general, and fruits in particular, directly in target foreign markets. Organizing a large-scale, methodical and highly professional festival will strongly support attracting the attention and real experience of potential customers and foreign consumers.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade is ready to continue to accompany the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and relevant industry associations to organize a variety of specialized and thematic product festivals in the Chinese market and potential export markets, Vietnam’s strengths in the coming time. In particular, for fruits and processed fruit products, festivals will be held in rotation in different provinces and cities of China, especially in the northern region and inland areas of this country, where Vietnamese fruits are not yet well known or have little consumption” – Mr. Phu said. Evaluating the first Vietnam Fruit Festival at the opening ceremony on the morning of September 29, Mr. Truong Ngoc Ty – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center expressed that the Vietnam Fruit Festival is a wonderful exhibition fair in Beijing, with important and contemporary significance, demonstrating the tireless efforts of the Vietnamese people in meeting the needs of the Chinese market.
In particular, the Festival also more vividly reflects the friendly cooperation relationship between China and Vietnam in the agricultural sector, thereby helping to create valuable opportunities for connection and exchange between Chinese and Vietnamese agricultural enterprises, promoting the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to grow.
