Over the past month, the import and export turnover of goods through Lao Cai border gate reached nearly 135 million USD, focusing on agricultural products such as dragon fruit, watermelon, jackfruit, and banana.
According to information from Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, in more than a month, since the beginning of 2025, the export turnover of goods through Lao Cai border gate reached more than 50.6 million USD; the import turnover reached more than 84 million USD.
To facilitate businesses, Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2 has arranged human resources to clear goods as quickly as possible, including the Lunar New Year 2025.
The main export items are dragon fruit, watermelon, jackfruit, banana, rambutan, mango, cassava; the main import items are flowers, ornamental plants, fresh vegetables and fruits, coke, fertilizer.
In addition, the number of vehicles clearing customs at the border gate maintained an average of over 390 vehicles/day. Of which, the number of exported vehicles is 100 vehicles/day, imported vehicles is 290 vehicles/day.
Also in the first month of 2025, the competent authority issued certificates of origin (C/O) for more than 24,700 tons of goods, worth 20 million USD, including dragon fruit, watermelon, banana, jackfruit, tapioca starch, and dried cassava chips.
On average, these days, at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2, there are about 50 trucks of dragon fruit for export. At the same time, some other agricultural products increased slightly in quantity, such as rambutan, melon, and mango. These are fruits that have just started their season and are transported from the south to Lao Cai for export.
However, it is worth noting that the export of high-value agricultural products such as durian has decreased compared to 2024, and even on many days in the new year 2025, no durian trucks were exported.
The reason, according to the authorities, is that China is more strictly managing imported goods. The increased costs of testing for pesticide residues have led to a decrease in the amount of durian and jackfruit exported compared to previous months and compared to the same period in 2024.
