Thua Thien-Hue’s agriculture sector grows 5.88% in 2023

Central province’s agricultural production value estimated at $321 million last year, up 6.3%.

The agriculture sector in central Thua Thien-Hue province posted GRDP growth of 5.88 per cent in 2023; its highest to date.

Total agricultural production value stood at VND7.720 trillion ($321 million), a year-on-year increase of 6.3 per cent.

Exports of agriculture, forestry and fishery products earned $153.7 million, down 11.9 per cent compared to 2022.

The sector targets growth of 3-4 per cent this year.

Addressing a conference held recently by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong asked the sector to speed up restructuring towards comprehensively and sustainably developing agriculture and improving productivity, quality, added value, and the branding of farm produce.
