Trucks carrying agricultural products arrive at the border gate waiting to be exported to China
According to statistics from Lang Son Customs Department, in just 7 days of the Lunar New Year holiday, nearly 13,000 tons of Vietnamese agricultural products were exported to China. China’s demand for fruit in the first days of the year is very large, trucks carrying agricultural products are rushing to border gates to export to this market.
Lang Son Customs Department said that agricultural product exports to China in the first days of the new year are receiving many positive signals. From February 8 to February 14, the unit received and handled customs clearance procedures for 826 vehicles transporting import and export goods through the province’s border gates. Of these, there are 585 vehicles transporting export goods and 241 vehicles transporting imported goods.
In particular, during the 7- day Tet holiday, border gate customs units handled procedures for nearly 13,000 tons of Vietnamese agricultural products and fruits exported to the Chinese market.
According to Lang Son Customs Department, starting from February 14, the number of vehicles transporting exported fruits to border gates of Lang Son province began to increase sharply to serve the needs of the Chinese market during the Full Moon Festival in January. Forces at border gates, especially at Huu Nghi international border gate, Tan Thanh border gate and Chi Ma border gate, must organize overtime and increase working hours to clear customs procedures for fruit trucks as quickly as possible.
In Lao Cai, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch said that during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the Branch processed 391 declarations. Total turnover reached about 12 million USD, an increase of 3.6 times over the same period last year, of which exports reached more than 9.7 million USD, imports reached 2.2 million USD. Main export items include dragon fruit, durian, rambutan, jackfruit, mango, longan, watermelon… Main imported items are candy, apples, tangerines, persimmons…
Starting tomorrow (February 18), all border gates in the North will return to normal customs clearance of goods. The amount of goods transported to the North is very exciting, especially when a series of Vietnamese agricultural products enter the harvest season.
According to Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch, the unit is coordinating with border gate authorities to create the most favorable conditions for businesses to quickly clear customs, ensuring that congestion does not occur at the beginning of the year.
The General Department of Customs said that in January, agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover reached 5.14 billion USD, up 79.2% over the same period last year. Of which, the export value to China increased by 106.9% over the same period last year, accounting for 23% of Vietnam’s total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover.
