The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said: In 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products will reach a record high of 62.5 billion USD, an increase of 18.7% compared to 2023.

The export surplus of agriculture, forestry and fishery products continued to reach a new record of 17.9 billion USD, up 46.8%. Of which, the export of main agricultural products reached 32.8 billion USD, up 22.4%; livestock 533.6 million USD, up 6.5%; main forestry products 17.28 billion USD, up 19.4%; aquatic products 10.07 billion USD, up 12.2%.

There are 7 goods/groups of exported goods over 3 billion USD (an increase of 1 product compared to 2023). These are wood and wood products 16.2 billion USD (up 20.3%); vegetables and fruits 7.12 billion USD (up 27.1%); rice 5.75 billion USD (up 23% with an export volume of 9.18 million tons, up 12.9%); coffee 5.48 billion USD (up 29.1% with volume 1.32 million tons, down 18.8%).

With the above results, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien shared that the economic structure of the industry, the structure of agricultural production continues to shift, adjust appropriately, integrate multi-value, more effectively linked to the market, increase the proportion of sub-sectors, products with competitive advantages and high value.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved and implemented projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to major markets (the United States, China, Japan, and the EU) from 2023, combining the implementation of solutions to open new markets with great potential and negotiating and signing new orders in 2024 with effectiveness.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented mechanisms and policies for trade promotion, negotiating to open and develop markets to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; proactively handling food safety incidents and cases of shipments being warned in import markets. The Ministry coordinates with the Embassy and Trade Counselors to increase the role of Vietnamese Agricultural Counselors in countries to build channels for exchange, provide market information, and strengthen promotion and advertising for products that have been opened and officially exported.

Along with traditional markets such as China, the United States, the EU, Japan, etc., since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has paid attention to and focused on exploiting markets with great potential such as the Halal food market, the Middle East, Africa, etc.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has promoted the application of information technology in collecting information, forecasting the agricultural product market situation; directing and guiding the issuance of codes for growing areas, farming areas and tracing the origin of agricultural, forestry and fishery products for export. Functional units have strengthened research, forecasting and market information to promptly orient the organization of production and consumption of agricultural products; implementing trade defense measures, technical barriers in accordance with international commitments, negotiating and signing mutual recognition agreements.

Especially supporting businesses in resolving trade disputes, minimizing risks in international integration; Take advantage of free trade agreements (FTAs) to expand markets and promote export growth.
