In building agricultural brands, in addition to the factors that determine the quality and quantity of products, there is another extremely important factor that determines the existence of agricultural brands, which is the raw material area. After the merger, Da Huoai district has all the factors to rise up and become a large agricultural production area with valuable agricultural products.
THE LARGEST AND SECOND LARGE DURIAN AREA IN THE COUNTRY
The new Da Huoai district has a durian area of over 10,000 hectares (data compiled from the old districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien). The merger of the three southern districts is opening up an opportunity for Da Huoai district to become the district with the largest and second largest durian area in the country. Since the 1920s, when the French chose this land for experimental planting, up to now, Da Huoai district has become the “capital” of durian with many farmers earning billions of dong.
In Da Huoai district (old) in 2024, the total output will reach over 50,000 tons, bringing in revenue from durian production of over 3,525 billion VND, raising the average income value per unit of crop area from 83 million VND/ha in 2020 to 275 million VND. The area with income from 500 million VND/ha or more is 3,442 ha with over 1,000 households; the number of households with income from 1 billion VND or more is 391 households. Although durian was planted later, the similarity in climate and soil of the 3 southern districts has created a large durian growing area for the whole Da Huoai district (new). The functional sector is also conducting training and technical training for managers and farmers; analyzing the quality of durian fruit samples for VietGAP certification; Organize assessment, grant certificates of VietGAP standards and actively promote, disseminate and replicate production models.
People in the communes of Quang Ngai, Nam Ninh, Tien Hoang and Dong Nai Thuong are also earning high incomes from durian. Many households, especially ethnic minorities, have become billionaires and millionaires from this tree, which is considered the “king” of fruits. On the other hand, cashew is also one of the main crops of the new Da Huoai district with about 16,000 hectares. Da Huoai district has coordinated with the Center for Information and Application of Science and Technology Advances of Binh Thuan province to organize marketing training and build a value chain for Da Huoai cashew nuts. Da Teh (old) and Cat Tien (old) districts have accepted to register the collective brand “Da Huoai Cashew Nuts”, creating a large raw material area. This is an important premise, along with the establishment of a new district based on the merger of 3 districts, increasing the competitive opportunities for “Da Huoai Cashew Nuts” in the markets.
SWEET PRODUCTS OF THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS
Da Huoai District (new) is like a watercolor painting with many touches. A fertile land of the Central Highlands with many rich and diverse products. In addition to the main crops that have affirmed their position such as durian, cashew, green-skinned grapefruit, this land also has many other delicious products.
If durian is known as the “king” of fruits in Da Huoai District, then yellow tea is called by the people as the “queen” of teas because of its economic and medicinal values. Yellow tea is mainly distributed in communes such as Phuoc Loc, Ha Lam, Da Ton… The natural yellow tea population discovered in Da Huoai District has very high economic and medicinal values. This land is also famous for its specialties such as: sticky rice, tangerine, watermelon… Currently, farmers in the district are busy taking care of and harvesting to supply the market… Another famous product is green-skinned grapefruit, grown in many communes such as Da Lay, My Duc… The seasons of red garden rambutan, Cat Tien rice, and cocoa are also gifts from heaven for people to have a prosperous and warm life.
