The Mekong Delta’s An Giang province has exported the first seven tons of green-skinned mangoes to Australia and the US, the Tuoi tre (Youth) online newspaper has reported.

Six tons went to Australia and one ton to the US.

This is the first time the province has exported the fruit to these two markets.

The mangoes were cultivated under VietGAP standards in the province’s Cho Moi district.

Deputy Chairman of Cho Moi District People’s Committee Doan Thanh Loc said the district has the largest mango cultivation area in An Giang, with over 6,400 ha. Green-skinned mangoes are planted on 4,204 ha.

The district has issued 41 planting area codes for green-skinned mangoes on a total area of more than 6,149 ha, to support exports to China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and the US.
