Vegetables and fruits are one of the very few commodity groups with export growth in the first half of 2023, not only that, but also achieved a record increase of 60.1% over the same period last year.
In the first six months of 2023, vegetables and fruits brought in 2.7 billion USD, of which, nearly 1.8 billion USD were exported to China.
June is the second consecutive month to record a strong growth rate of export vegetables and fruits, with a turnover of 662 million USD, far exceeding the figure of 560 million USD in May 2023. This growth was achieved mainly thanks to the increased purchasing power of the Chinese market.
According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, one of the growth drivers of the export fruit and vegetable industry is durian. Since the beginning of the year, durian exports have increased dramatically. In the first 6 months of the year, durian exports reached about 850 million USD, double the whole year of 2022, of which, 90% were exported to China. It is expected that in 2023, the country’s durian export will reach 1.2-1.5 billion USD

According to estimates of the General Department of Customs, as of July 15, vegetables and fruits brought in more than 3 billion USD and by the end of July, the ability to surpass the result of 3.3 billion USD of the whole year 2022 is complete. fully feasible.
