Possible goal

Likewise, General Secretary of the Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT) Dang Phuc Nguyen, said that the goals set by the agricultural sector can be achieved. The reason is that from the beginning of the year until now, the export of vegetables, fruits and rice has always grown highly. Seafood exports in the beginning of the year faced many difficulties, but according to many comments, from the fourth quarter they will prosper. This is one of the sufficient conditions for the agricultural sector to reach the export target of 53 – 54 billion USD. The necessary condition is that the entire industry must implement synchronous and focused solutions for the agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors from market information, and promote trade connections to support export businesses. Pay attention to product quality that meets market standards, especially demanding markets, including towards green production….

Regarding the fruit and vegetable industry, Mr. Nguyen said that from now until the end of 2023, export turnover will continue to increase strongly. Large markets such as China, Japan, and the US will have a need to import a large amount of vegetables and fruits from Vietnam for consumption during year-end festivals. This occasion is also the harvest season for many types of vegetables and fruits with a national output of about 7.6 million tons. It is expected that fruit and vegetable exports can reach more than 5 billion USD.

Regarding rice export, it is estimated that in the last 3 months of 2023, Vietnam can strive to continue exporting over 1 million tons of rice of all kinds and continue to set a record for the highest export output in history; Output will reach about 7.5 – 7.6 million tons, worth about 4.3 billion USD.

Director of Communications of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Le Hang also informed that currently the amount of inventory in the US and China is gradually shrinking, and consumer demand during the year-end holidays is also increasing. Pangasius export can bring in sales of 1.8 – 1.9 billion USD; Shrimp exports are estimated to reach 3.6 billion USD and seafood products will reach about 3.5 billion USD. It is forecast that total seafood exports in 2023 could reach 9.1 – 9.2 billion USD.

VASEP believes that what needs to be done right now is to grasp and closely follow the market situation, on that basis to help farmers maintain production and maintain raw materials for next year; Good disease control. In particular, actively removing the IUU yellow card this year will be a good launching pad for the growth of the seafood industry in the coming time. With the efforts of all industries, the export goal of the entire industry will certainly be achieved.

To promote the development of domestic consumption and export markets, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is continuing to handle market issues to create favorable conditions for the export of agricultural and aquatic products, especially are the markets of China, the United States, the EU, the Eurasian Economic Union… Focus on controlling serious acts of IUU fishing, preventing illegal fishing by Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen. foreign waters; Prepare content to receive and work with the European Commission’s Inspection Team in October.
