The evaluation report of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association also shows that one of the growth drivers of the export fruit and vegetable industry is durian. In the first six months of 2023 alone, durian exports reached about $850 million, double the whole year of 2022, of which, 90% were exported to China. It is expected that in 2023, Vietnam’s durian export will reach 1.2 – 1.5 billion USD.

As for the EU market, there is still plenty of room for Vietnamese fruits and vegetables to penetrate this market because the size of the EU market accounts for 43% of the global fruit and vegetable trade value. Besides, with the advantage of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), Vietnam can eliminate up to 94% of tax lines for vegetables and fruits, creating a great competitive advantage compared to many exporting countries. other.
