Export turnover of key products of the industry is higher than the same period last year.

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 9 months of 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 46.28 billion USD, up 21%; imports 32.42 billion USD, up 7.5%. The trade surplus of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 13.86 billion USD, up 71.2%.

In September, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.85 billion USD, up 31% compared to September 2023; of which, main agricultural product exports were 3.41 billion USD (up 50.9%), forestry products 1.33 billion USD (up 11%), aquatic products 920 million USD (up 13.4%), livestock 46.1 million USD (up 19.1%).

In general, in the first 9 months, most product groups increased, so the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products increased and reached 46.28 billion USD, up 21%. Contributing to this result are: agricultural products 24.85 billion USD, up 27.7%; forestry products 12.46 billion USD, up 20.3%; aquatic products 7.23 billion USD, up 9.5%; livestock 376 million USD, up 3.8%…

The export turnover of the industry’s key products are all higher than the same period last year such as: wood and wood products 11.66 billion USD, up 21.3%; coffee 4.37 billion USD, up 39.6% while export volume decreased by 10.5%; rice 4.37 billion USD, up 23.5% with volume 7.01 million tons, up 9.2%; cashew nuts 3.17 billion USD, up 22.5%; vegetables and fruits 5.87 billion USD, up 39.4%; shrimp 2.79 billion USD, up 10.5%; Pangasius 1.36 billion USD, up 7.8%; pepper 1 billion USD, up 46.9%.

The average export price of some key export products increased, of which coffee increased the most with 56% to 3,897 USD/ton; second was pepper reaching 4,941 USD/ton, up 49.2%; followed by rubber increasing by 19%, rice increasing by 13.1%…

Export value to all markets increased such as: Asia increased by 17.4%; America increased by 26.1%; Europe increased by 34.6%; Oceania increased by 16.1%; Africa decreased by 0.3%. The US, China and Japan continued to be the 3 largest export markets; of which the US accounted for the highest proportion at 21.6%; followed by China accounting for 20.8% and Japan accounting for 6.6%.

On the other hand, the import turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 9 months of 2024 was 32.42 billion USD, up 7.5%. Of which, the import turnover of agricultural products was 19.95 billion USD, up 7.6%; livestock products 2.8 billion USD, up 9.2%; aquatic products 1.89 billion USD, down 2.5%; forestry products 2.09 billion USD, up 25.7%; production inputs 5.67 billion USD, up 4.6%; salt 26 million USD, down 21.8%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the approval and implementation of projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to major markets such as the United States, China, Japan, the EU… from the end of 2023, combined with the implementation of solutions to open markets, seek and sign new orders in 2024, have been effective, helping the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products increase by 21%, maintaining an average monthly trade surplus of over 1.5 billion USD.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to take advantage of FTAs, especially the CPTPP and EVFTA, to boost the export of key agricultural, forestry and fishery products, support businesses in signing new export orders, and coordinate to support the protection of trademarks and geographical indications for potential Vietnamese export products abroad.
