Many fruits such as durian, jackfruit, dragon fruit and soon lychee enter the harvest. The demand for exporting this product to other markets, especially the Chinese market, has also increased. Therefore, it is necessary to implement many solutions to avoid congestion at the border gate and minimize damage to the story of the devaluation season.

Warning trucks carrying agricultural products are stuck at the border gate

According to the evaluation of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province, at the beginning of the agricultural harvest season in the provinces, the volume of goods cleared during the day at the border gates of Lang Son province was recorded to increase. Specifically, from March to now, the number of vehicles transporting agricultural products and fresh fruits has increased to border gates in Lang Son province. At peak times, there are nearly 1,000 trucks carrying goods (mainly agricultural products and fresh fruits) waiting at the border gate for customs clearance, while the capacity can only meet half of this number. It is worth mentioning that many cars are cleared for the first time, so the procedure takes longer than usual.

At Huu Nghi International Border Gate, from the beginning of the year to May 30, the functional forces carried out customs clearance procedures for 1,601 shipments of durian officially exported to China, equivalent to nearly 60,000 tons. In particular, in May 2023 alone, the output of durian exported through Huu Nghi International Border Gate has reached over 17.5 thousand tons.

This time, Vietnam is in the harvest of fruits such as durian, passion fruit, jackfruit, dragon fruit. In the near future, there will be other products such as lychee, longan, mango… These are items with high export demand.

At the meeting between the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and Guangxi province (China), to promote import and export of agricultural products, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam also said some The border gate is overloaded, so it is necessary to have more information exchange between the units at the border gate to make customs clearance more convenient. The issue of prioritizing early clearance for some agricultural products is emphasized, because many agricultural products cannot wait long, affecting quality.

Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department Nguyen Anh Tai said that in order to support import and export enterprises (enterprises) to overcome difficulties, Lang Son Customs has actively and proactively implemented many tasks and solutions. , ensure the circulation of goods, promote import and export activities. Especially, since March, Lang Son Customs has asked border gate units to arrange staff to directly receive, receive and handle customs procedures outside office hours.

Supporting export agricultural products, expanding markets, increasing competitiveness, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs Luu Manh Tuong recommended, enterprises need to establish a methodical foundation from the smallest stage such as production premises, technology, raw materials and creativity to improve the quality of agricultural products in the direction of meeting the conditions and standards of the importing countries. In addition, complete customs procedures early so that when goods are brought to the border gate, they do not have to wait, preserve and wait for export.

Enterprises producing and processing agricultural products for export also need to improve the quality of goods in line with Vietnam’s commitments under the agreements and important partner markets; close contact with the Customs authority to actively apply information technology in electronic traceability of agricultural products, helping to expand the market.

Improve the quality of agricultural products

According to Mr. To Ngoc Son – Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), China is the largest export market of fruit and vegetables with the proportion of 53.7%; cassava and cassava products with the proportion of 91.47%; rubber with the proportion of 71%. China is also the third largest export market of Vietnamese seafood (after the United States and Japan).

“Despite having such an important position, role and potential, Vietnam’s economic and trade cooperation with the locality of the country still has many points that are not as expected,” said Mr. Son. for production organization, state management agencies and local authorities need to develop strategies for industry development and branding; to build large-scale and concentrated specialized farming and production areas; oriented production and farming according to market signals. In quality management, it is necessary to strengthen the management and supervision of the quality of exports from farming to processing; strengthen training and replication of production models according to GlobalGAP, VietGAP, and HACCP standards.

However, according to analysis from experts, the story of Vietnamese agricultural products besides the export problem also needs to find a synchronous solution for effective consumption. Specifically, Vietnamese agricultural products are very diverse. Finding an outlet for products is an urgent need to help businesses and cooperatives overcome difficulties, the wholesalers themselves, and the supermarket system are also looking for reputable sources of raw materials to meet their orders. products and domestic consumers. In order to overcome the situation of devaluation, the products need to be manufactured under strict control and process, meeting quality standards.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh (Academy of Finance), the good thing is that many businesses have made a move to return to supply for the domestic market. Mastering the domestic market of 100 million people is also a great opportunity because the market is close, transportation costs and access costs are lower, easy to adapt to culture and needs; The implementation of the campaign for Vietnamese people to use Vietnamese goods is also always focused.
