Agro-forestry-fishery produced a surplus of 6.9 billion USD in 9 months

DNVN – At the regular press conference on October 3, the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first nine months of 2022, Vietnam’s total import-export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products (NLTS) reached about approx. 74.7 billion USD, up 10.7%, of which, trade surplus was about 6.9 billion USD, 2 times higher than the same period last year (CKNT).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first nine months of 2022, consumption of agricultural products and market development will be expanded.

The total import and export turnover of AFF is about 74.7 billion USD, up 10.7% compared to the NTFP; in which exports (exports) are estimated at 40.8 billion USD, up 15.2% compared to NTFPs; import (import) was estimated at 33.9 billion USD, up 5.7%; trade surplus is about 6.9 billion USD, 2 times higher than that of CKNT.

In terms of exports, the main agricultural products group is over 16.8 billion USD, up 7.5%; main forest products about 13.3 billion USD, up 10.8%; seafood over 8.5 billion USD, up 38.0%; livestock breeding $ 265.5 million, down 18.4%.

Up to now, there are 7 products/product groups with export value of over 2 billion USD (coffee, rubber, rice, vegetables, cashew, shrimp, wood products). Many commodities have higher export value than NTFPs such as: Coffee with US$3.1 billion (up 37.6%); rubber reached over 2.3 billion USD (up 7.8%); rice reached over $2.6 billion (up 9.3%); pepper reached about 774 million USD (up 7.7%); cassava and cassava products reached over $1.0 billion (up 21.0%), pangasius reached over $1.9 billion (up 83.3%), shrimp reached nearly $3.5 billion (up 24.8) %), wood and wood products reached over USD 12.4 billion (up 11.4%); rattan, bamboo and sedge mats reached 654 million USD (up 3.4%), all kinds of fertilizers 900 million USD (up 170.4%); animal feed reached USD 861 million (up 9.7%).

Regarding export markets, in the first 9 months of 2022, markets in Asia (accounting for 43.7% market share), Americas (28.3%), Europe (11.6%), Oceania ( 1.7 percent) and Africa (1.7 percent).

In the first 9 months of 2022, the activities of consuming agricultural products and developing markets will be expanded.

The US continues to be the largest export market, reaching over 10.5 billion USD (accounting for 25.8% market share). The second is the Chinese market with about 7.4 billion USD (accounting for 18.2% market share). The third is the Japanese market with an export value of over $3.1 billion (accounting for 7.6%). The fourth is the Korean market with an export value of over $1.9 billion (accounting for 4.7%).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, the Ministry has granted 4,597 codes of planting areas for export in 54 provinces and cities; 1,419 export packing facility codes for fresh fruits (dragon fruit, mango, custard apple, banana, grapefruit, seedless lemon, longan, litchi, chili, black jelly…) China, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan…

Recently, 2 Protocols on export of passion fruit and durian were signed between Vietnam and China. There have been 25 packing facility codes and 51 durian growing areas approved by China and in September exported the first official batch of durian to the Chinese market.
