Vietnamese durians are mainly exported to China, accounting for 84.3% of the total value of Vietnamese durian exports.

According to the Customs Department of Lang Son province, as of May 30, more than 1,600 lots of durian (nearly 60,000 tons) have been cleared through Huu Nghi International Border Gate into China. In May alone, more than 17,500 tons of durian were transported through Huu Nghi Border Gate.

According to the Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in Chongqing, China, dragon fruit, banana, durian, and mango are the main fruits that Trung Khanh imports from Vietnam. In the first quarter of 2023, the city imported more than 26 million USD of durian from Vietnam, nearly 8.9 million USD of dragon fruit and 101,000 USD of Vietnamese banana.

According to the Kunming Customs Department, China, Kunming Customs and the Vietnamese side began implementing a mechanism for exchanging samples of quarantine certificates and recognizing each other’s certificates from June 1. Kunming Customs will also apply measures to reduce clearance time related to medical declaration, goods handling, QR Code payment and other services, in order to facilitate durian customs clearance. .

Currently, Vietnam has 293 durian growing areas and 115 packing facilities that have been granted export codes by China to officially enter this market.
