On July 11, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and his delegation had a tour and survey at MM Mega Market An Phu supermarket (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City). to survey the introduction of agricultural products into supermarkets and towards export through modern distribution channels.

Reporting to the survey team, the representative of MM Mega Market Vietnam said that from 2019 until now, the unit has successfully exported our country’s agricultural and seafood products to Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong ( China) and Turkey such as sweet potatoes, dragon fruit, grapefruit, coconut, pangasius, shrimp, frog legs… Currently, with dragon fruit products, supermarkets regularly export 2 – 4 containers/month to the Thai and Chinese markets. In 2024, MM Mega Market expects to double the amount of agricultural exports, conquering difficult markets including Australia, Germany and the Netherlands.

Vietnamese agricultural products are targeted by modern supermarket systems for sustainable export.
A representative of Central Retail Group in Vietnam said that in Central supermarket systems in Vietnam, up to 95% of products are Vietnamese products, such as Ca Mau shrimp, basa fish, Hoa Loc mango… Meanwhile, At Central Retail Thailand supermarket, many Vietnamese products are popular with consumers such as dragon fruit, pho, vermicelli, coffee, tea… In 2024, Central Retail expects to continue to find more similar products. Vietnam’s strengths to incorporate into the system and export abroad.

Previously, at the end of June 2024, Central Retail organized the “Event to promote lychees from Vietnam” to introduce to Thai consumers main-crop lychees from Vietnam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, modern retailers have been taking positive steps; including close coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to build a cooperation program on goods quality control, contributing to spreading Vietnamese brands to domestic and international markets.

Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC) also regularly coordinates with AEON Vietnam Co., Ltd. (AEON Vietnam) to organize networking events to support the introduction of Vietnamese goods. Nam exports, especially Vietnam’s strong agricultural products for consumption in Aeon’s system in the Vietnamese market as well as the Japanese market.
