In the first 9 months of 2023, cashew exports earned 2.6 billion USD and recorded double-digit growth compared to the same period last year.
The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited data from the General Department of Customs as saying that Vietnam’s cashew nut exports in September 2023 are estimated to reach 60 thousand tons, worth 328 million USD, down 1.0% in quantity and a decrease of 1.6% in value compared to August 2023, but an increase of 56% in volume and an increase of 39.6% in value compared to September 2022.
In the first 9 months of 2023, our country’s cashew export is estimated to reach 456 thousand tons, worth 2.6 billion USD, up 19.6% in volume and 14.3% in value over the same period last year. last.
It is estimated that Vietnam’s average cashew export price in September 2023 will reach 5,474 USD/ton, down 0.7% compared to August 2023 and down 10.5% compared to September 2022.
Cumulatively in the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam’s average cashew export price reached 5,722 USD/ton, down 4.5% over the same period last year.

Regarding types, in the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam mainly exports cashew nuts W320, W240, W180, accounting for 63.55% of the total volume and 70.0% of the country’s total export turnover. Therefore, the export growth of the above types of cashew nuts has had a positive impact on the entire industry.
In particular, in August 2023, our country’s W320 cashew export reached 27.15 thousand tons, worth 162.51 million USD, increasing 9.6% in volume and value compared to July 2023, compared to with August 2022 increasing by 35.1% in volume and 27.2% in value.
In the first 8 months of 2023, W320 cashew exports reached 167.65 thousand tons, worth 1.03 billion USD, up 18.6% in volume and 10.7% in value compared to the same period last year. .
In August 2023, W240 cashew exports increased by 7.2% in volume and 5.5% in value compared to July 2023, reaching 8.48 thousand tons, worth 51.57 million USD, compared to August 2022 increased by 54.1% in volume and 34.8% in value.
In the first 8 months of 2023, W240 cashew exports reached 58.35 thousand tons, worth 380.28 million USD, up 21.5% in volume and 14.2% in value compared to the same period last year. .
Since August 2023, Vietnam’s cashew exports to the US market have increased sharply again. Vietnam’s cashew industry has great expectations after the visit of US President Joe Biden to Vietnam on September 10 – 11.
In addition, cashew nut exports to the Chinese market recorded high growth, which will contribute to the overall export growth rate.
According to cyclical factors, Vietnam’s cashew export activities will be vibrant in the last months of the year. It is forecasted that demand for cashew nuts for holidays will increase sharply.
