According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in 2022, the export turnover of goods is estimated at 371.85 billion USD, up 10.6% compared to the previous year., the trade balance of goods in December is estimated to have a trade surplus of 0. $0.5 billion, for the whole year of 2022, the trade balance of goods is estimated to have a trade surplus of $11.2 billion (in 2021, a trade surplus of $3.32 billion).

Accordingly, the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2022 achieved a record high of 53.22 billion USD, up 9.3% compared to 2021; in which main agricultural products reached 22.59 billion USD, up 4.8%; main forest products reached USD 16.93 billion, up 6.1%; seafood reached 10.92 billion USD, up 22.9%. Trade surplus of agriculture, forestry and fishery is estimated at 8.5 billion USD, up 30% compared to 2021.

Within the agricultural sector, the forestry sector is having the largest trade surplus with over 14 billion USD of the total export value of forest products of 16.3 billion USD.

Many types of agricultural products simultaneously increased prices

In 2022, in the context of many fluctuations in the world market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has closely coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement mechanisms and policies for trade promotion, open-door negotiation and development. market to promptly solve problems to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; responding to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic and the Russia-Ukraine military conflict, which disrupted the global agricultural supply chain.

Actively research, forecast and take advantage of opportunities from free trade agreements to promote agricultural exports; promote circulation, border trade, grasp the situation of production, processing and consumption of agro-forestry-fishery products.

In addition, the Ministry also cooperates with Vietnamese embassies, trade counselors and agricultural counselors in other countries to build channels for exchanging and providing information on export markets, enhancing promotion and advertising. In the form of online promotion (online) for products that have been opened and officially exported to markets associated with the Government’s and Ministry’s diplomatic activities into major markets (China, US, EU, Russia, Brazil) and effectively exploit potential markets (Japan – Korea, Asean, Australia – New Zealand, Middle East).

According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, the achievements in 2022 of the agricultural sector recognize the great contribution of associations and the agricultural business community.

The statistics of export turnover of each category are crystallized from the sweat and efforts of farmers along with “white nights” to balance the costs, revenue and profit of each shipment of businesses.
