Many orders of vegetables and fruits exported to Russia had to stop

Political tensions between Russia and Ukraine have affected the export of fruit and vegetables to this market. Orders to this market had to be stopped due to the lack of flights to transport.

According to the Import-Export Department, Russia is among the 10 largest export markets of Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits in the first two months of 2022, the export value of vegetables and fruits to Russia reached $9.5 million, an increase of 7.7 million USD. % over the same period in 2021.

Political tensions between Russia and Ukraine have affected the export of fruit and vegetables to this market. Orders to this market had to be stopped due to the lack of flights to transport.

In addition, stopping orders and no flights also prevents businesses from building freight for partners’ orders.

The fact that some Russian banks are banned from participating in international transactions will affect the payment cash flow for export businesses.

However, the overall impact on the industry is not high because currently the proportion of fruit and vegetable exports to the Russian market is still low, accounting for only 1.9% of the total export turnover of goods in the first 2 months of 2022.

Vietnam is the sixth largest supplier of processed fruits and vegetables to Russia in 2021, reaching 45.3 thousand tons, worth 49.3 million USD, up 8.6% in volume and 45.6% in value compared to 2020.

Russia is a potential market for Vietnam’s processed fruits and vegetables, and the demand in Russia is very high, especially in winter. The quality requirements of imported processed fruit and vegetables that the Russian market offers are not as high as the Western European market.

However, the Import-Export Department believes that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will make the export of processed fruit and vegetables to Russia difficult and will tend to decrease in the near future.
