ANTD.VN – Total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2024 will reach a record high of 62.5 billion USD, up 18.7% compared to 2023; trade surplus will continue to reach a new record of 17.9 billion USD, up 46.8%.

Reporting on production activities in 2024, Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, informed that in 2024, the total production value of the industry will reach an estimated growth rate of 3.3%, the forest coverage rate will reach 42.02%; the rate of communes meeting new rural standards will reach 78.7%; the rate of rural households using clean water meeting standards will reach 58%. The total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products will reach a record high of 62.5 billion USD, an increase of 18.7% compared to 2023; the trade surplus will continue to reach a new record of 17.9 billion USD, an increase of 46.8%.

Of which, the export of main agricultural products will reach 32.8 billion USD, an increase of 22.4%; livestock will reach 533.6 million USD, an increase of 6.5%; main forestry products will reach 17.28 billion USD, an increase of 19.4%; Seafood 10.07 billion USD, up 12.2%. There are 7 products/groups of products exported over 3 billion USD (an increase of 1 product compared to 2023).

The leader of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in 2024, the sector will implement the plan in conditions with intertwined advantages and difficulties, challenges; including strong impacts from market fluctuations, severe hot weather, drought, storms in the Central Highlands and Central regions, saline intrusion in the southern provinces and cities; especially storm No. 3 (Yagi) which caused severe damage to agricultural production in the northern provinces.

However, with high determination, great efforts, synchronous and flexible implementation, and creative solutions to the difficulties and challenges of “unusual situations” of the agriculture and rural development sector, the above results were achieved. Specifically, the rice output for the whole year reached nearly 43.7 million tons, up 0.4%; the yield reached 61.4 quintals/ha, up 0.3 quintals/ha (up 0.5%), meeting the domestic consumption demand, processing, animal feed production and rice export of about 9 million tons.

Industrial crops, key fruit trees, such as: Durian reached 1.45 million tons, up 21.2%; Dragon fruit reached 1.35 million tons, up 13.3%; Rubber reached nearly 1.37 million tons, up 7.5%; Coffee reached 1.95 million tons, down 0.3%; Cashew reached 340.1 thousand tons, down 2.2%.

Agricultural exports in 2024 to reach record 62.5 billion USD.

Livestock production of all kinds of fresh meat is estimated at 8.1 million tons, up 3.5% compared to 2023; of which fresh pork is 5 million tons, up 3.7%; fresh poultry meat is 2.4 million tons, up 3.8%;

Aquaculture production of aquatic products has developed stably thanks to favorable weather for both farming and exploitation. Total aquatic product output is estimated at 9.6 million tons, up 2.4%; of which 3.86 million tons were exploited, up 0.6% and 5.75 million tons were cultivated, up 3.7%…

In 2025, the agricultural sector set a target of GDP growth rate of 3.3 – 3.4%; Total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is 64 – 65 billion USD.
