The Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore is promoting the export of Vietnamese fruits, especially longan and litchi to Singapore.
Accordingly, a series of activities, including Vietnamese Goods Week, business connection and lychee trial events, took place in this island nation.
The office is also ready to provide additional support to any Vietnamese localities and businesses that intend to export lychee and fresh longan to this market.
According to data from Singapore’s business regulator, last year, the country spent S$6.78 million ($5.02 million) and S$4.6 million on imports of fresh lychee and longan, respectively. Among them, the shipment of two kinds of fruit from Vietnam was worth SGD 43,000 and SGD 4,000.
Up to now, Vietnamese lychee and longan have entered many fastidious markets such as Japan, Korea, and Australia. With their quality, brand and potential, they have many opportunities to gain a foothold in Singapore.
