In the export of agricultural products, China is a market with many opportunities for Vietnam’s exports. For example, durian exports to China are ranked second in terms of export value in the group of exported fruits of Vietnam. Particularly in October 2022, durian export value to China reached nearly 50 million USD, up more than 4,000% over the same period last year.

At the Conference on implementing tasks in 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed that in the coming time, the agricultural sector needs to restructure production, develop trade policies in border areas, and focus on shifting from the export of non-quota items to official channels, connecting and expanding cooperation with other countries’ markets.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to implement trade promotion programs and apply technology in the stages of trade promotion and consumption of agricultural products. At the same time, relevant units will handle disputes and lawsuits in international trade quickly, creating maximum conditions for enterprises to export agricultural products.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, in the first 6 months of 2022, the export of fruit and vegetable products decreased by 17.3% compared to the same period in 2021. The cause of this decline is the export market. The main part of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable industry is China using the zero Covid policy for import and export goods.
In general, in 2022, the export of fruit and vegetable products has surpassed the US$3 billion mark, down 5.1% compared to last year. Some markets that recorded increased export growth of fruit and vegetable products were the Netherlands with an increase of 47.2% in the first 11 months of 2022, the US with a growth of 14.4%, and South Korea with an increase of 14.1%. and Thailand by 19.7%.
