On June 16, Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony to announce the export of the first official shipment of 360 tons of durian to the Chinese market. Accordingly, 20 container trucks carrying 360 tons of durian (like Dona and Ri6) have left the port to the Chinese market by road through Tan Thanh border gate, Huu Nghi international border gate and Mong Cai international border gate.
With an area of more than 11,345 hectares, Dong Nai is considered the “capital” of durian cultivation of the Southeast with a total output of nearly 69,000 tons. Up to now, the whole province has 6 packing facilities, 11 durian growing areas with an area of 820ha that have been granted a planting area code, with an output of about 20,000 tons, granted a code for official export to the Chinese market.
In addition, there are 61 durian growing areas with an area of nearly 2,000 hectares and 4 durian packing facilities have completed documents and submitted to the Plant Protection Department to request the General Administration of Customs of China to approve the code.
At the northern bridgehead, on the afternoon of June 15, 56 tons of Bac Giang lychee were exported to the Chinese market via Kep International Railway Station (Lang Giang District, Bac Giang Province). This is the first time Bac Giang lychee has been exported via railway to the Chinese market.
Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) is a key fruit-growing area of the province and the Northern region with over 28,000 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, of which the main crop is lychee with a total area of over 17,000 hectares. specialized production. From the beginning of the crop to now, the whole district has harvested and sold over 25,000 tons of fresh fruit, of which 54% of the production is consumed domestically and about 46% is exported to foreign markets, the most being the Chinese market.

This is also a solution for Luc Ngan district to diversify markets, innovate methods of consumption and export lychee via railway, reduce dependence and pressure on road border gates.

In the central land, on June 14, Ho Guom – Song Am High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd., based in Ngoc Lac district (Thanh Hoa) completed the procedures to export 6 quintals of seedless lychee to Vietnam. Japan and 5 quintals to the UK by air.
This is a lychee variety imported from abroad, selected and planted by the Ho Guom – Song Am High-tech Agriculture Company, in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Genetics, and planted on trial in Nguyet An Commune, Ngoc Lac District.
2023 is the first year that Ho Guom – Song Am High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd harvests this litchi. The number of lychees that have just been exported is carefully selected by the company according to the following criteria: thin skin, plump, not deep, fragrant, sweet, put into the fumigation line, and then canned for export.
The fact that Ho Guom – Song Am High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd has just exported the first batch of seedless lychees to the Japanese and UK markets is an important milestone for Thanh Hoa province’s agricultural industry.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), it is estimated that the export value of vegetables and fruits of Vietnam in May 2023 reached 600 million USD, an increase of 53.3% compared to April 2023 and an increase of 137.7 %. % compared to May 2022. Generally, in the first 5 months of 2023, the export value of vegetables and fruits is estimated at 1.97 billion USD, up 39% over the same period in 2022.
While many agricultural products showed signs of export decline, the fruit and vegetable industry alone continued to record a positive export growth rate. Most of the exported vegetables and fruits recorded good growth rates in the first 5 months of 2023.
